Skincare Saviours

Skincare Saviours

It’s a bit of a different post from me today because whilst I love makeup and skincare, I don’t know an awful lot about it to be writing about. But I really wanted to share some of the products I absolutely love right now because I’ve finally got a skincare regime that I love and that works for me.

I cannot remember a time when my skin wasn’t dry and I wasn’t desperately trying every skincare product in the universe to find something that wouldn’t dry it out even more. I thought a simple washing my face and moisturising regime would work fine for me, and I was so irritated when I still had spots and itchy patches and dryness everywhere.

So I finally decided to invest in some skincare. It’s been a lot of trial and error but at long last I’ve found THE ONE. So here’s my current skincare regime which has cleared up my spots, evened out years of mild scarring and stopped my skin from being as dry as the Sahara.

The Body Shop – Tea Tree Clearing Facial Wash £6

The Body Shop – Tea Tree Clearing Mattifying Toner £6

I’ve never really been a fan of the scent of Tea Tree but it’s definitely growing on me. The wash and toner come from The Body Shop’s Tea Tree range which is really affordable and (I think) has been the most succesful in terms of my skincare regime. I use an exfoliating sponge for the facial wash which gets rid of any dead skin and makes my skin feel much smoother than it has before. The toner is equally wonderful and it’s definitely helped to get rid of acne scarring that I’ve had for years.

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate £49.50

This seems to be one of everyone’s holy grail products and I totally understand why. It’s so good to just pop on before your moisturiser at bed time and your skin will wake up so happy.

Lancôme Absolue Premium BX £115

The price of this makes me want to cry. Luckily, I got a pretty reasonably sized sample in a gift box for Christmas but this definitely isn’t something I’ll be repurchasing. Honestly, I sort of feel like moisturiser is moisturiser so I can’t see any reason to buy one that costs £100. This is a really nice product but it doesn’t feel much different to other moisturisers that I’ve used, however I would like to try another cheaper Lancôme one. I use this moisturiser day and night (I’m too lazy to have a separate day and night cream!). It’s sinks into my skin really nicely without sitting on my skin for too long which is really useful for when you’re in a rush to do your makeup. It also leaves my skin really nicely moisturised when I wake up in the morning which is truly the dream for someone who has never woken up with soft skin. If you know any alternatives that are similar to the Absolue Premium then let me know because I’d love to find one.

What are your skin saviours? Let me know in the comments!
